Becoming a published author has been my dream since childhood. For my birthday one year, my parents bought me a cheap roll top desk, and my dad made a nameplate out of paper that read:
Pamela J. Butterfield
Author
If only it were that easy. I'm still working toward that first published book, but if you search my name on familyshare.com, you'll find a few articles I've written. I started a blog this year where I discuss my experiences with the ups and downs of gaining and maintaining good health. It's a place for people to share their thoughts, concerns and ideas. The link is below. It's also the beginning stages of my author blog (I've been reading Tim Grahl's Your First 1000 Copies).
You know how people often have a room in their home that's set aside for something they do often? A friend has a sewing room. My sister has a craft room. My husband has a place in the basement where he keeps all his tools and parts he needs for fixing things. Recently I visited a friend and fellow writer at her newly remodeled house in New Hampshire. The only thing I remember about the tour is her writing room. She actually had a room in the house just for writing! My husband was hesitant, one of my daughters was appalled that I would suggest such a thing, but I now have my own writing room. Yay!
Oh, speaking of my dad, I wrote a short piece about him for a collection of essays called Lessons From My Parents, published by Familius.com (Amazon link below).
